Liz Ather

I was born and raised in Vermont and then moved to New York City to attend college at Fordham University, where I graduated with a degree in communications and media studies. After two years living in Manhattan and working in public relations, I realized that my childhood dream job of teaching was actually my adult dream job, too! So, I moved back to Vermont where I received a M.Ed. from St. Michael's College.

While I began my teaching career as a fifth grade classroom teacher, I am most passionate about my role as an interventionist and love working with small groups of students to support their learning. I am excited about getting to work with all grade levels at MES and love the connections I've made with students in each class community.

I live in Central Vermont with my husband and enjoy reading, figure skating, yoga, baking, and spending time with family.

I grew up in Chicago, Illinois and after graduating from Illinois State University in 2004, I started traveling around the United States, working with young people in camps, on ski slopes, in residential facilities, and in nature. I arrived in Vermont in 2008, and after working as a park ranger and earning my M. Ed at Antioch University, I started teaching fourth grade in Morrisville, Vermont.

This is my second year at Moretown Elementary School and I feel very lucky to be a part of this community. As an interventionist I am working across all grade levels teaching and learning with students working on a variety of skills.

I live with my wife Christie, who is a first grade Spanish Immersion teacher, and our two year-old daughter, Marceline in Waterbury. We love seeking adventures to gain new perspectives, experience new places and have fun.
