This week we held our first Whole School Meeting of the year. This was an opportunity for our school community to come together and show gratitude to our local road crew. Martin Cameron, Moretown Road Foreman, came to answer some questions from our students and talk a bit about what the road crew does. After the meeting our students got to visit with the newly named VTrans truck, Jack the Snowcat- named by MES students. Many thanks to Mr. Stevenson for his work with our morning meeting and the plow naming activities.
We are experiencing signs on animals on our back playground that seem to visit outside of school hours. We will be placing some cameras out back to identify the animal so that we can plan ahead for how to keep our playground clean for kids. We encourage families to be extra vigilant when visiting the playground. Thanks for your understanding and patience while we work through this.
The weather has been beautiful for us lately - mild temperatures and loads of sunshine - but we all know Vermont too well to think that this will stick around! The Girl Scouts are planning a Winter Clothing Exchange similar to the Costume Exchange. Scroll down the the Community Offerings section to read more about this opportunity to give and get (or just get!)
Our Parent Teacher Conferences are underway. If you haven't signed up for a conference and would like one, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
Our Lost and Found is starting to fill up. If you seem to be missing an article or clothing, water bottle, boot or anything else encourage your child to check out the Lost and Found in the cafeteria. We also welcome families to stop in the cafeteria to look while you're here for conferences.
Next week is another full week of learning. We look forward to welcome students back on Monday. May you all have a joy-filled weekend.
Ms. Kate

The 15th Annual River of Light Lantern Parade will be held on Saturday, December 7th, 2024 in Waterbury. 5:00pm
About A River of Light
Every December since 2010, community members of all ages have been coming together to celebrate and participate in the excitement of the River of Light Lantern Parade and festivities! In addition to enjoying the lengthy stream of enchanting lanterns, community members can gather at the parade’s destination for hot chocolate, a bonfire, and entertainment such as Cirque de Fuego – fire spinners. Past years have included Burlington’s street Samba band, Sambatucada, which has led the procession and are often joined by Burlington’s Brass Balagan.
The parade will leave from Brookside Primary School, to Stowe Street and proceed to Dac Rowe Park (parking available behind school).

Join Girl Scouts!
We currently have four open spots for girls in grades 2-6 to join Girl Scout Troop 64227. We meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 2:20-3:45 at MES. Our troop loves crafts, community service, ice skating and camping. You can register online by clicking here.
We'd also love to have an opportunity for girls in grades K-1 to join the fun. To start a "Daisy" Girl Scout Troop, two adult volunteers are needed. If you are interested in helping make this happen for our youngest students, we'd be happy to provide support in doing so! You can find more information on starting a troop by clicking here, or email me at [email protected].
