Bobcat Bulletin v. 16

December 8, 2023

We want to welcome all of our families to attend the Artisans' Sale this coming Saturday, December 9th from 9-3 pm here at the Moretown Elementary School.  The Artisans' Sale is hosted by our amazing PTO and serves as a fundraiser for our Winter Ski Program.  This event will host 27 local vendors, our school book fair and a raffle to support the PTO.  Santa will be here from 10-2 to hand out candy canes to excited children!  Please consider attending and shopping locally this holiday season.

I want to send a big 'Thank You!' to all of you for adhering to our dismissal changes.  While this has made a positive change for student safety, it is still not enough.  Starting next week we will be adjusting our dismissal timeline to allow for buses to leave BEFORE students are called for parent pick up.  Once the buses leave, cars will be asked to pull through our bus loop so that students can use the sidewalk to load into cars.  This will delay the start of parent pick up by 5 minutes and we welcome you to adjust your afternoon routines to accomodate this change.  Parent pick up will not start before 2:22 pm.

To continue to make things more safe for students during dismissal, we will ask that students load cars from the sidewalk.  Once cars are loaded, we will allow cars to pass on the left side to leave the lot.  School staff will be out there to help with this new pattern and we are hopeful that by the end of next week we find ourselves with a more efficient and safe way to see our students off.  We welcome any and all feedback as we work to button up this process.

We look forward to welcoming our students back next week.

Ms. Kate

It’s time for the MRV Great Amazing Bear Story Contest!

With near record bear counts this year it’s no wonder there are so many bear sightings in the Mad River Valley. The VT Fish & Wildlife Department estimates 7,000-8,500 bears statewide, a 5 year high with an estimated 2,000 more animals than just a few years ago. As bears seek and compete for new territories to call their own, we find more bears popping up all over our community. It’s the perfect opportunity to embrace living in bear country by sharing collective stories, wildlife appreciations, and tips & tricks for our peaceful coexistence!

The MRV Bear Initiative wants to hear your best bear stories from 2023 . Share with others and become eligible to win some cool prizes!

Details:
Craft your story and submit it to the MRV Bear Initiative before Wednesday January 31st, 2024. Your story only needs to be long enough to capture our attention. Submit any or multiple formats of recorded media – an essay, pictures, drawings, a link to a video, a poem, a diorama, etc. Choose the format that best fits your story. Selected stories will be shared with the community as educational and inspirational opportunities for all of us to enjoy.
