Our PTO-sponsored Winter Sports Program was a huge success on Tuesday with our students in grades 1-6 traveling to Sugarbush to ski and ride. Our kindergarten students spent the afternoon in Moretown cross country skiing with Mrs. Dow and did a great job being brave and learning a new skill. This continues to be one of my favorite parts of the student experience here in Moretown. These opportunities give our students access to a healthy winter activity that our region is known for while also providing a path for students to build confidence outside of the classroom. Be sure to scroll down on this week's bulletin to view additional photographs from a fun day on the mountain/trails as well as other images from a full week of learning.
Mrs. Hopper's fifth and sixth grade class has been studying Ancient Egypt and just put their final touches on their handmade egyptian masks. Their masks look incredible and brings their learning to life in a whole new way! To learn more, we encourage you to ask a fifth or sixth grader about mumifying fruit :-)
These winter days are made more enjoyable by outdoor play and no one loves fresh snow quite like elementary students. If you haven't already, please make sure that your student has an extra change of clothes in their backpack or cubby. It's hard to learn if you are sitting in cold wet clothing, and it's even more challenging to not participate in the outdoor fun.
We will be sending some bobcat luck to our Moretown Lego Robotics Team as they travel to Global Foundaries this weekend to compete in the state tournament. This group, along with their leaders Mish Boreanaz and Jason Stevenson, placed second in the regional competition in early December and has been working hard to prepare for this weekend's event. We know they'll make us proud!
We always have snacks available in the office for students who get hungry throughout the day. We are running low on snacks and are asking for donations so that we can continue to provide this support to students. All snacks need to be peanut-free and non-perishable. Many thanks to those that have already contributed.
Next week is forecasted to be quite cold with wind chill factors below zero degrees. Our student handbook indicates that we will remain indoors if the "real feel" is less than zero degrees farenheit. If it's looking like we will not be able to travel to Sugarbush this coming week due to cold temperatures, we will cancel the program on Monday afternoon and alert folks through SchoolMessenger. We would not be able to make up that lost time but would resume skiing/riding on January 28th.
We hope that you all enjoy a long weekend with your student(s). We look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, January 21st.
Ms. Kate

2025 Girls On The Run Team is looking for coaches!!
Make a positive impact and empower young Vermont girls by volunteering as a Girls on the Run coach at Moretown Elementary this spring! With caring coaches who mentor and motivate, all girls can reach new heights. This season's curriculum inspires all participants to say “I can!” to every obstacle that comes their way. Team members build confidence to overcome difficult situations, inspire others to keep going when it’s hard, and embrace their confidence to make a difference in their community.
Not a runner? Haven’t coached before? No problem! Girls on the Run VT (GOTRVT) provides training, easy to follow lesson plans, supplies and support for a transformational season. Our season begins the week of March 17th, and ends with a celebratory 5K on Saturday May 31st. Our team will meet twice weekly for 90 minute sessions to connect, move, learn and have FUN!
Visit gotrvt.org/coach to learn more or sign up to volunteer. Questions? Contact Christine Tierson at [email protected] or 802-595-3329 or go directly to GOTRVT at [email protected] or 802-871-5664.

Hello neighbors!
We have arranged for a Toddler/Pre-K Gym Time (ages 2-4) starting on 1/10 every other Friday from Jan-March from 5 pm-6:30 pm at the Moretown Elementary School. The dates will be 1/10, 1/24, 2/7, 2/21, 3/7, and 3/21.
Please follow the signs and enter through the Owl Door. All you will have to do is sign a quick waiver and you'll be good to go. Please reach out with any questions.
