Bobcat Bulletin v. 32

April 12, 2024

I hope that you all were able to experience the eclipse on Monday.  It has  been fun hearing the students share their eclipse stories and hear their amazement of this rare celestial experience.

This coming Wednesday brings our annual field trip to the Ice Center in Waterbury where students will spend some time skating.  We are asking students to bring their own helmet (bike helmets work great!), snow pants, gloves/mittens, and a coat.  The Moretown PTO is covering the cost of skate rentals and students are welcome to bring their own in so long as they have skate protectors and are labeled with their first and last name.  K-2 students will skate in the morning and 3-6 will skate in the afternoon and will return in time for dismissal.

This week the Pines preschool class hosted their annual Author's Tea.  Family members joined in celebrating these budding writers and illustrators!  Several students were brave enough to read their books to the whole crowd and they were SO impressive!  Thanks Miss Jenny and Ms. Lisa for helping to grow such talented students.

VTCap testing for grades 3-6 finished today and the Moretown PTO provided ice cream to celebrate with them.  Thanks PTO!  Those that missed testing or need a bit more time will complete theirs next week.

The HUUSD School Board has voted on a reduced budget to present to voters on April 30th.  This will be an important vote to be knowledgable about so the board will be sharing messages far and wide.  When documents become available I will share them here, and I encourage everyone to understand what their vote will mean this time around.

Our Spring Concert and Art Show will be hosted on Thursday, May 16th at 6pm.  We encourage families to come around 5pm to view student art work prior to the start of the performance.  Families that participate in the Green Mountain Performing Arts Spring Recital at Spruce Peak should note that the dress rehearsal lands at the same time as our spring concert.  Jenna Companion of GMPA has been very flexible and has indicated that all MES students should participate in their Spring Concert and will have alternate plans to prepare for the spring recital.  Thank you to GMPA for their understanding and flexibility!

The spring can get quite busy with activities and events.  Please review the dates below and mark your calendars now.

Summer FUNd Applications Open for 2024

Is your child looking for an enriching and engaging summer experience?  The MRV Summer FUNd is here to help ensure that any child who wants this opportunity is given it by providing financial assistance to families who find it challenging to afford these programs given the high cost involved. Summer programs are essential to combat learning loss during the summer break while nurturing the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of participants. By funding an array of activities, the FUNd offers opportunities for exploration, skill-building, and connection with nature.

Apply for a grant now to secure a spot for your child in the camp of their choice, as camps are starting to accept applications and can fill quickly. We want local families who need assistance to know we are here to help.  The application can be accessed at www.mrv-ic.org under the Summer FUNd page or at https://forms.gle/NnzCDAcK1G17mbG18.   If you have any questions, please reach out to Patty Giometti, the Summer FUNd coordinator, at [email protected].
