Bobcat Bulletin v. 8

October 18, 2024

I'd like to thank all of the families that joined us for last night's open house and biking event.  We had a great turnout for both events!  I always enjoy walking my children through and seeing the pride they have in their spaces and their work.  It was fun to see our students excitedly show our school to their families.  An extra special 'thank you' goes to our teachers for all they do each day for our students and for their efforts in making last night a success.  It makes for a long day for our teachers, but they all were eager and excited to greet families and share student work.

Now that we are well into the school year I want to remind families of our morning routine and timelines.  Drop off begins at 7:20 and students have until 7:40 to grab breakfast, take care of their needs and be in their classroom.  If students show up right at 7:40 they are considered tardy.  If students show up at 7:37 and don't immediately get to their classrooms, they are also considered tardy.  We are required to take attendance right at 7:40.

We want to encourage our families to establish routines at home that allow for their students to arrive on time and ready for the day.  The bus (while may be running earlier than in year's past) is a great way to ensure that your student will arrive to school on time.  If you plan to drop your student off, we encourage you to drop off prior to 7:30 so that your students have time to settle in before attendance is taken.  Thank you for your help in ensuring that our students have a positive start to the day and limiting interruptions to the learning environment.

This week we hosted our community bike event and open house, Stephanie Jenkerson's KIT group and our kindergarten and 3/4 students painted gourds/pumpkins, Joel Greene fascinated our 1/2 students with dry ice and 5/6 students used flint and steel to make fire at ECO. Each week our students are gaining skills and growing in their learning.

A few weeks ago we asked that parents fill out the Winter Sports Program form to help us prepare for our sking program at Sugarbush this winter.  This program is only for students in grades 1-6.  Kindergarten students do their own cross country ski program here at school.

Next week Ian Downing from Slope Style will be traveling to Moretown to fit students for ski and snowboard equipment.  If you had indicated that you'd like your student to be fitted at school we ask that you send in a check in prior to Friday.  Checks should be made out to SlopeStyle, the ski package with tax is $106, and the snowboard package with tax is $137.80.  If you had indicated on the form that you need to borrow from the school then you do not need to send in a check.

May you all enjoy the beautiful weather that seems to be coming our way.  We look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday.

Ms. Kate
