Bobcat Bulletin v.9

October 25, 2024

Today, Ian Downing from SlopeStyle came and set up a ski and ride store right in our very own Moretown gym!  Along with his parents and Dan Liptak, Ian fitted over 50 students with skis and snowboards for the upcoming winter season.  If you personally rented equipment and had your student fitted at school, you can pick up the equipment at Moretown School anytime next week.  We politely request that if you want to grab it during arrival or dismissal times that you park in the parking lot (not the bus loop) and walk in.  We will also have equipment available on Halloween evening under our roof by the main entrance for families to pick up.  Many thanks to Ian, Natessa Cournoyer and Louisa Wilson for their work in making this happen.

Our fall family conferences are right around the corner.  While some teachers have already sent along information to sign up, expect a notice about Canyon Creek to go out early next week.  Please note that there will be NO SCHOOL for students on November 4th and November 5th.

This morning we had the fewest amount of tardy students that we've had in some time.  I appreciate everyone's diligence in reestablishing effective routines to help kids get here on time.  It really is incredibly disruptive to the learning environment to have students come in late.  Let us know if you're still struggling and could use some support with getting your student(s) here on time.

It seems like Mother Nature hasn't yet figured out what season we're in.  Isn't the saying "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute?"  We are finding that our mornings are very cold and the afternoons get quite warm.  With another warmer week ahead next week, we encourage students to dress in layers so that they're ready for any type of weather.

This week we hosted a Fire Drill at school.  We will continue to practice our school safety drills each month with both options-based drills and egress drills.  I welcome any questions that community members may have about school safety.

From NOW:

Neck of the Woods afterschool program is opening enrollment back up for all Moretown students grades K-5th! Program runs the hours of 2:20pm-5:00pm M-F. Afterschool activities consists of gym play, crafts, clubs and outdoor adventures. Our time if full of laughter, smiles, dance parties and fun with our peers. To sign up today or for further questions please contact our director Larissa Darias at [email protected]

Next week brings Halloween and all of the excitement that comes with it.  We ask that students leave costumes at home so that they can fully focus on learning.  We welcome families to trick-or-treat at our main entrance on Halloween evening!  Come and grab a spooktacular treat and show off your costumes.  Please note that our building will not be open to the public that evening.

I wish you all a joy-filled weekend and look forward to welcoming students back on Monday.

Ms. Kate

If you're wondering- I have scheduled THREE weeks of biking (last week, this week and next week) to allow for days "off" for icky weather while still having lots of opportunities to bike. I know historically it was bike "week" but that was back when PE class was every day of the week.
