10 sleeps until the first day of school!

“Work hard, be kind and amazing things will happen.” — Conan O’Brien

Welcome to our new Bobcat Bulletin! This bulletin will be taking the place of the former Bobcat Blog and will be updated weekly with important and pertinent information.  Each week a link will be sent through SwiftReach to the updated blog and we ask that families read the blog to keep current on happenings here at Moretown Elementary and also community offerings that school passes along.

We are excited to be updating our website through a partnership with Edgeworks Creative, based out of Waterbury.  Our website will be a hub of information for prospective and current families and it also will house the link to this bulletin.  Please utilize the website for accessing Pick up Patrol as well as reporting a student absence.  Links for both of these can be found right on the homepage.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 23rd from 5-6 for our PTO-sponsored Ice Cream Social!  We look forward to welcoming families on the Rec Fields and enjoying a sweet treat before school starts on August 28th.

Our stormwater project is *almost* finished.  We ask for patience and understanding while our playground is closed from now until the first day of school.

From the PTO:

Hello Moretown School Community!

We’re so glad you’re here. The PTO is dedicated to contributing towards the wellness of our student community, and we are passionate about creating opportunities for connection among our families and the families within the valley.

We choose fundraising activities that reflect the interests of our families and plan community events that bring us all together. Past fundraising events include the beer tent at Morefest, the Artisan Fair, and Cookie Love - and we welcome new fundraising ideas. We truly appreciate your participation, whether it be time, fundraising support, or a combination of the two!

Our PTO fundraising supports supplemental activities like:

  • Ski Sugarbush program for our 1st - 6th grade students
  • Troy Wunderlee's Big Top Adventure
  • Ice skating
  • Providing cross-country skiing and snowshoeing equipment
  • Field trip funding assistance
  • Field day assistance
  • And so much more!

Who we are: We’re parents, staff, and teachers who collaborate to enhance the student experience. Our members volunteer their time, talents, and passions to help make our community events and programs successful year after year. Thank you to everyone who participates. We couldn’t do it without you.

Community Offerings:

After school Enrichment FUNd

Again this year the MRVIC has decided to offer an Afterschool Enrichment FUNd to help parents of children attending one of the four Valley elementary schools cover the cost of afterschool activities.  After school programs provide children with important opportunities to be active and engaged during out-of-school hours.  Whether sports, arts, music, science, or another type of non-daycare after school program, the MRVIC would like to ensure that any child who would like to participate can.  (Note: The MRV Community Fund currently assists families who need help covering the costs of after school daycare.)

Because this fund is limited in scope, applicants need to be recommended by their school’s principal or school counselor.  To be considered, please reach out to Kate Liptak at [email protected].
