Bobcat Bulletin vol. 5

It is hard to believe that we are finishing our third week of school.  There continues to be excitement and joy in our hallways and we are looking forward to more fun school experiences.

Please read this week's notes in their entirety so that you don't miss out on important details about upcoming experiences.

See you on Monday!

Ms. Kate

K-6 Hike at MRG

Our students in kindergarten through sixth grade will all be participating in a hike at Mad River Glen on Tuesday, September 26th.  This will be a tiered challenge experience with multiple stopping locations.  If you have already been through the volunteer process we invite you to join us for this experience and ask that you call Brenda in the main office to indicate you'll be attending.  We will then send more information closer to the date of the trip.

Donations Requested

To make our school hike even more exciting for our students, we'd like to provide a bag of nut-free gorp to enjoy at their hike destination.  We are asking families to donate an ingredient for our gorp and have assigned different classrooms with each ingredient.  Please consider picking up an ingredient while you do your weekend grocery trip.

Moretown Elementary is once again partnering with Ember Photography to offer high quality pictures for our students and teachers. Ember Photography is also owned and operated by Moretown community members and parents, Brian Mohr and Emily Johnson. This year we are utilizing an online signup form but a paper order form can be requested by calling the main office. At your earliest convenience, please sign up using this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfLEJ-seoLc5EayxWxz2XBy5A7JEmReRg-zct2sZBnIJk65Ag/viewform?usp=sf_link

Volunteering

The HUUSD values and appreciates volunteers in all our schools. We also take very seriously our responsibility to keep all students safe and to follow the law. All adults working with our students--employees and volunteers--will be required to undergo background checks.  This can be a lengthy process so we ask that anyone that has an interest in chaperoning or volunteering in our school to complete the process as soon as possible.  To learn more, please visit: https://huusd.org/apply-to-volunteer

Morefest

We would like to send a big "Thank You!" to the Morefest Committee, the Moretown Rec Committee, Members of the PTO and the many parent volunteers who ran the different tables and tents, donated products, parked cars, served delicious food and beverages, ran the potato sack races and painted faces last weekend!  And to the Town of Moretown for bringing our community together.

Our fifth and sixth grade classes sold pulled pork sandwiches at Morefest to help pay for their class trips and ould like to specifically like to thank Eric Howes for expertly roasting all day!  Our PTO ran concessions and beverages and raised a fantastic amount of money to help fund the winter sports program and Tory Wunderlee's Circus residency.

Moretown PTO

The Moretown PTO's first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 19th at 7:00 in the library.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Attending doesn't automatically sign you up for a big commitment, but it does help you connect with other parents interested in supporting the school.  The PTO needs additional members to provide valuable experiences for MES students.  The PTO welcomes participation both big and small!

Puppies!

Jean Goldhammer, third and fourth grade teacher, had a fun share for her class on Wednesday.  Jean's class is currently reading the book, Shiloh, about a young beagle and the young boy that saves him.  As a treat for her class, Jean and her husband shared their 3 month old beagle puppies with her class.  Everyone had such a fun time meeting Jack and Daisy.
